Dubrovnik is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in Croatia. With its medieval streets and squares, historic buildings and impressive city walls, it is an absolute feast for the eyes. For our recent visit to the Pearl of the Adriatic, we booked a stay at the luxury Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik.
The Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik is a beautiful five-star hotel located on the edge of the historic city. It is housed in a historic building that has been carefully renovated and modernized. The hotel offers luxurious rooms and suites decorated in an elegant, classic style. For complete relaxation the hotel offers a wide range of facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, a spa and fitness room, a restaurant and a cozy bar, both with an outdoor terrace. From the hotel terraces you can enjoy amazing views of the Adriatic Sea, Lovrijenac, Fort Bokar and the city walls of Dubrovnik.
Upon arrival at Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik we are warmly welcomed by the concierge. The friendly man guides us to the check-in desk where we receive our room key, and the necessary explanation about the hotel facilities, within a few minutes.
To reach our room we have to go up a few steps. The concierge offers his help, but as we only have a small, light suitcase with us, we politely decline his offer.
Our room is spacious and elegantly furnished and features all the necessary comforts a modern traveler needs, such as air conditioning and sufficient USB ports to charge smartphones and other high-tech gadgets. A gigantic, comfortable king-size bed is centrally located in the room. In addition, a seating area with lounge chair and a side table. On the other side of the window is a round table that also serves as a desk. The large television is placed on a beautiful cabinet in which the minibar is incorporated.
The spacious wardrobe reveals the safe and an iron and ironing board. The latter come in handy to make our shirts completely wrinkle-free again before heading out to dinner in one of the nice restaurants in Dubrovnik. In the spacious marble bathroom, in addition to the obligatory hairdryer, we find a collection of luxurious bath products, both in travel sized packaging and in large bottles.
Strolling along the Stradun
Having enjoyed a delicious cocktail on the beautiful terrace of Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik, we walk towards the old town. While the late afternoon sun is casting it’s rays on Dubrovnik, we stroll across the Stradun. The 300-meter-long cobbled street weaves its way through the historic center like a shiny catwalk. We decide to dive into one of the many small streets and alleys and lose our way. Yet we almost naturally arrive at the old port of Dubrovnik. While the last skippers moor their boats, we decide to begin our evening with yet another delicious cocktail. This time accompanied by a view of the old harbor. We are completely impressed by the peace that prevails at the moment.
Having enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, we decide to walk back through the small passage connecting the harbor and Old Town Dubrovnik. The terrace of the Arsenal restaurant is the ideal place to enjoy an amazing view of the church of Saint Blaise, the patron saint of Dubrovnik, while tasting the finer Croatian cuisine. After a delicious dinner, it is time for another stroll along the beautiful pavements of the Stradun. This time not under a radiant evening sun but bathed in the clear moonlight.
One of the highlights of a stay at Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik is the breakfast which can be enjoyed every morning in the restaurant or on the adjacent terrace. The buffet is very extensive and, in addition to local specialties such as cheese, ham and all kinds of meats, also offers grains, yoghurt and olives. In addition, a variety of hot dishes and pastries are offered. Anyone who, like us, enjoys a fried egg or omelette with toast will also get their money’s worth here. The staff is attentive and friendly, making breakfast a perfect start to the day every time.
