Air Belgium launches flights to ‘Relaxing Antilles’

Air Belgium launches its direct flights to the French Antilles from Brussels Charleroi Airport with a surprise unveiling of an aircraft featuring Martinique and the islands of Guadeloupe.

On 7 December 2019, Air Belgium is taking 215 passengers, two dogs and 12 tonnes of freight to Fort-de-France and Pointe-à-Pitre on its first flight. The airline will provide a warm and festive welcome to the lucky passengers who will escape the dull grey Belgian skies and head for the sunny warmth of the Antilles. “Relaxing Antilles” is the theme of this inaugural flight.

Air Belgium has created a new design for one of its Airbus A340-300 aircraft for the occasion, showcasing Martinique and Guadeloupe through their particular characteristics. Air Belgium is delighted to highlight this unique opportunity for a direct connection between Belgium and the French Antilles.

These two very attractive new destinations have resulted in more than 16,000 reservations to date, translating to 200-300 per day.

The weekly Air Belgium flights provide many benefits for passengers from Belgium and its neighbouring countries, such as France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Germany. Travellers are able to travel to the French Antilles using just their national identity card – no need for a visa or any vaccinations. The local currency is the Euro, and both French and English are spoken there.

Air Belgium offers a quality service for any budget on board its four aircraft. Passengers can choose from three travel classes:

  • Business Class: a fully reclining seat that turns into a proper bed, plus a selection of sophisticated menus with a Belgian twist and a large selection of drinks and entertainment
  • Premium Class: genuine comfort in a cosy space within a private cabin
  • Economy Class: plenty of legroom, individual screens and attentive service at all times

A full service package is included with all Air Belgium tickets: a 30kg hold baggage allowance, food and drink on board and access to a private lounge for Business and Premium Class passengers.
