The Complete Guide To The Drink Packages On Celebrity Cruises

Whether you’re lounging by the pool, dining in specialty restaurants or catching a live show, a beverage package offers convenience and savings, enhancing your cruise experience. With unlimited access to a variety of beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, you can indulge in your favorite drinks without worrying about individual costs. Buying a drink package means saying goodbye to the hassle of keeping track of individual purchases, as the package ensures a worry-free and budget friendly approach to indulging in your favorite beverages.

But while beverage packages definitely have their advantages, they also come with some disadvantages as no package is the same. Indeed, drink packages vary from cruise line to cruise line, and package prices may even vary by ship, itinerary, and length. Furthermore, they may pricewise include different drinks depending on the sailing or region you are cruising, and they can come with an additional tax for certain ports or itineraries. So it’s always a good option to have a closer look at what’s included for your specific voyage. Find out more about the pros and cons of purchasing a beverage package on a cruise here.

Drink packages on Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity Cruises’ drink packages offer good value on drinks as guests pay just one price to enjoy a wide variety of beverage choices. These include premium coffees, bottled water, wines by the glass, beers, and cocktails. Drink packages can be used in the main restaurant, specialty restaurants, casual dining restaurants, and all bars and lounges.

The drink packages are also valid at Labadee and CocoCay. Room service and minibar drinks however are not included.

Furthermore all drink packages are for single-guest use and cannot be shared by multiple people, but this is standard for all cruise lines. This means that when one guest in a stateroom purchases a drink package, all other guests of legal drinking age in the same stateroom have to buy the same drink package.

There are some exceptions to this policy. Guests are not required to purchase a drink package for children 12 years old and under. For teens, a Zero Proof (non-alcoholic) Drink Package will be added. For pregnant guests and those not allowed to consume alcohol, for medical reasons for example, a Zero Proof Package will be added.

While there is no daily limit for drinks with Celebrity Cruises drink packages, guests may only order one drink at a time. Additional drinks ordered will be charged at current bar prices.

It’s also good to note that the price of a drink package does not include gratuities. 20% gratuity is added to all drink package prices when you buy them, either pre-cruise or on board. Package prices may also reflect an additional tax for certain ports or itineraries.

You can purchase the Celebrity Cruise drink packages online, up to 72 hours before you sail, or on board during the first day of the cruise. Buying the drink package before you sail will save you money. For our March 2024 cruise aboard Celebrity Infinity, Celebrity Cruises offered a 40% pre-cruise discount on the Classic Drinks Package (€48.72 per guest per day instead of €81.20) and the Premium Drinks Package (€58.74 per guest per day instead of €97.89).

But what if you bought a drink package pre-cruise but decide you want to cancel it? Drink packages can be canceled through the Cruise Planner up to two days before the sail date and you will receive a full refund. Once on board, refunds will be credited to your account and any partially consumed portion of the package will be charged at full price.

Are cruise drink packages worth the price?

When it comes to the all important question whether or not a drink package is worth the price, it all depends on your personal preference and situation. For those seeking an indulgent cruise experience without the concern of accumulating additional expenses, a cruise drink package is the ideal solution. Upon boarding, you gain immediate access to a variety of premium coffees, beers, cocktails, frozen beverages, and wines by the glass, all included in your cruise fare. However, keeping in mind that all guests in the same stateroom need to purchase the same drink package, if you do not plan to consume many drinks, it may not be worth the additional cost. Also, if you are an Elite member in the Captain’s Club you get free drinks from 5 to 7 PM during Captain’s Club daily Elite Cocktail Hour.

Furthermore Celebrity Cruises provides coffee, tea, iced tea, lemonade, hot tea, milk, non-bottled water, hot chocolate, orange juice and other assorted juices onboard complimentary.

It’s also good to keep in mind that on embarkation day, you can bring on any non-alcoholic beverages, limited to what can be hand-carried. Additionally guests of legal drinking age are allowed to bring one 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne on board on embarkation day. Just remember to consume it in your cabin if you want to avoid a $25 corkage fee, unless you have a Classic or Premium Beverage Package.
