Inside Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas

Adventures are on the horizon for vacationers of all ages on Wonder of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s highly anticipated new ship. Wonder of the Seas will sail 7-night cruises to the Caribbean before heading to Barcelona (Spain) and Rome (Italy) to offer summer adventures in the Mediterranean.

After three years of construction, Wonder of the Seas has finally welcomed its first guests. The newest and biggest ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet offers guests plenty of new and innovative features to provide cruise enthousiasts of all ages the best vacation at sea.

Taking the revolutionary Oasis Class ships to a new level of wonder, innovation and adventure, Wonder combines brand-new features and favorites that span thrills, entertainment, dining and nightlife.

Highlights to uncover on Wonder of the Seas

The fifth in Royal Caribbean’s revolutionary Oasis class of ships, Wonder of the Seas has adventures across eight unique neighborhoods – a Royal Caribbean first – in store for vacationers of all ages. The young and the young at heart can discover, wonder and make memories in a variety of ways and places designed for family bonding and me time.

Suite Neighborhood – The new, eighth neighborhood offers Royal Suite Class guests an elevated Suite Sun Deck in a new location, complete with a plunge pool, bar and plenty of loungers and nooks to kick back; along with favorites such as Coastal Kitchen, the private restaurant; the Suite Lounge, and the largest Ultimate Family Suite yet to host a family of 10.

The Mason Jar Southern Restaurant & Bar – The new hotspot serves up southern staples and new twists on classics for brunch, dinner and in the late night, including savory johnnycakes, southern fried chicken, crab beignets, and shrimp and grits. Completing the experience is live country music, farmhouse-style decor, a collection of American whiskeys and spiked shakes.

Wonder Playscape – The underwater-themed play area for kids is a whole new adventure with slides, climbing walls, games, an interactive mural activated by touch and imaginative puzzles.

The Vue Bar – The happiest of happy hours can be found at the new cantilevered bar that offers panoramic ocean views by day, and after sunset, it shines bright with a colorful mosaic canopy.

Caribbean Pool Deck – At the center of the Caribbean vibes is The Lime & Coconut, alongside the trio of high-speed waterslides, The Perfect Storm; kids aqua park Splashaway Bay, Casitas, in-pool loungers, live music; and more.

El Loco Fresh and Cantina Fresca – The grab-and-go spot for Mexican delights, like made-to-order tacos, burritos and quesadillas, now debuts Cantina Fresca. The dedicated bar serves a selection of ‘aguas frescas’, margaritas and other Mexican staples.

Other returning favorites on board Wonder of the Seas include Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, Royal Caribbean’s latest twist on the Italian trattoria; the tallest slide at sea, The Ultimate Abyss; the newly designed, dedicated kids and teens spaces at Adventure Ocean, Social100 and The Patio; the FlowRider surf simulator, twin rock-climbing walls, the Central Park neighborhood lined by more than 20,000 real plants; and more.

The entertainment onboard Wonder of the Seas

Befitting of the world’s newest wonder, adventure and innovation will come to life across the cruise line’s four signature and high-tech ‘stages’ – air, ice, stage and water – with four new productions:

  • inTENse – The AquaTheater’s first and mighty all-woman cast dials up the energy and intensity in the one-of-a-kind, open-air amphitheater with the deepest pool at sea. Awe-inspiring athleticism will be on full display for this high-octane show as the epic cast performs Olympic-level dives from as high as 55 feet, slacklining feats, tumbling, aerial acrobatics and more, punctuated by inspiring lighting and sound for a fully immersive adventure.
  • 365: The Seasons on Ice – In the one and only Studio B, auniquestory of the earth’s changing seasons is told through the artistic movement of champion ice skaters. Performers will embody the flow of time as their characters and their every move are accentuated by innovative projection mapping, colorful lighting and images, and sound, which transform the venue from one season to the next.
  • The Effectors II: Crash ‘n’ Burn – Debuting later this year in the Royal Theater, Royal Caribbean’s very own superheroes – The Effectors: Captain Viz, Lume, Pixel and Reverb – return in an exhilarating, high-tech battle with their archnemesis Crash and his new sidekick Burn. The heroes will use their superpowers, based on artistic talents, performance skills and the unlimited power of creativity, to save the planet and edge out their rivals once and for all. The latest installment of The Effectors is bigger and bolder, featuring trailblazing applications of autonomous technology pioneered by Royal Caribbean.
  • Voices: An Intimate Performance on a Grand Scale – The modern world of virtual communication fuses with the evocative power of live performances in an all-new style of musical production. The Royal Theater’s bespoke show, featuring a wondrous medley of music, singing and dancing, will underscore the unifying power of performance art.

In addition to Wonder of the Seas’ original entertainment, a robust slate of live music throughout Royal Caribbean’s latest innovative ship creates the ultimate vacation soundtrack day and night.

  • Live country music brings together the wholesome, southern hospitality experience at The Mason Jar Southern Restaurant & Bar. The homey tunes are served up with brunch, dinner and late-night menus of southern staples and a collection of bourbon and American whiskeys.
  • Vacation vibes are unmatched on Wonder’s vibrant pool deck, where guests can kick back, enjoy the pools, sip cocktails from The Lime & Coconut and groove to live Caribbean music, DJs and surprise performances throughout the day.
  • Music Hall offers live performances every night for vacationers to rock out with a tribute band, keep it mellow with a jazz ensemble or dance like no one is watching with the Royal Caribbean house band.
  • A Royal Caribbean fan-favorite, the Stowaway Piano roving pianoplayer plays their own twist on classic tunes wherever the piano can roll.
  • Boleros heats things up withits Latin flavor, thanks to a six-piece band playing salsa, cumbia, merengue, samba and more.
  • The English pub, Cask & Clipper, serves ales on tap alongside a steady stream of acoustic performances for a truly authentic experience.
  • Accompanying an extensive menu of classic and signature cocktails, piano performers set the tone in the signature Schooner Bar.

Wonder of the Seas’ inaugural season

Sailing from Fort Lauderdale, Wonder of the Seas will set sail to the Caribbean from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale between March and April 2022. The 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries include visits to the cruise line‘s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau, The Bahamas; Roatan, Honduras; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Starting in May, the new Oasis Class ship charts course for summer vacations in the Mediterranean. Sailing from Barcelona and Rome, the 7-night Western Mediterranean cruises will visit marquee destinations like Naples and Florence (Italy), Palma de Mallorca (Spain) and Provence (France).

Year-round adventures on Wonder of the Seas begin in November 2022, when the newest addition to the Royal Caribbean lineup cruises to the Caribbean from Port Canaveral. The destinations vacationers have in store range from Perfect Day at CocoCay and Philipsburg, St. Maarten, to Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; and Cozumel, Mexico.
