Delivering a German pearl – AIDA Cruises takes delivery of AIDAperla

Earlier today, during a traditional Japanese ceremony, Germany based cruise line AIDA Cruises has taken delivery of its newest cruise ship AIDAperla in Japan from Mitshubishi Heavy Industries (MHI).

The commissioning of the 12th member of AIDA Cruises fleet took place earlier today in the course of a traditional Japanese ceremony in Nagasaki, Japan.

AIDAperla will now set sail for the Mediterranean in the coming days and will be christened in Palma de Mallorca by model and presenter Lena Gercke on June 30, 2017.

The many highlights on board the new AIDAperla include the Beach Club under a weatherproof and UV-permeable foil dome and the Four Elements with water slides and climbing garden. The award-winning Body & Soul Organic Spa which delights guests with its various saunas, multiple indoor and outdoor pools, a tepidarium and a fireplace room for complete relaxation.

The Lanai Deck complements the varied facilities offered with its infinity pools, glass elevators, two skywalks, state-of-the-art LED technology and aerial structures for extraordinary performances, as well as an interactive floating globe for the entertainment program. In addition to the Kids and Teens Club, there is also a Mini Club on board to look after small children from the age of 6 months. Furthermore the food & beverage facilities offered on board leave nothing to be desired: 12 restaurants, 3 snack bars and 14 bars invite guests to embark on a culinary world tour.

Starting from June 1, 2017, cruise fans will have the opportunity to get to know the youngest member of the fleet on several introductory trips. The five-day welcome cruise from June 1, to June 6, 2017, from Palma de Mallorca, leads to Marseille, Barcelona und Valencia. Prices for this cruise start at 549 euros per person in an interior stateroom.

The Christening Cruise will last from June 24 until July 1, 2017, leading from Palma de Mallorca to three of the most beautiful Mediterranean metropolises: Rom (Civitavecchia), Florence (Livorno) and Barcelona.

The christening celebrations in Palma de Mallorca on June 30, 2017 will be transmitted live on the internet and various social media channels.

From July 1, 2017, the 300 meter long and 37.6 meter wide AIDAperla will be traveling in the Western Mediterranean. Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona will be the start and end ports for the seven-day “Pearls of the Mediterranean” cruises which include destinations such as Rome (Civitavecchia), Corsica, and Florence (Livorno).

From March 2018 the Hanseatic City of Hamburg will be the home port of multiple seven-day round trips for AIDAperla to the most beautiful metropolises in Western Europe, such as London (Southampton), Paris (Le Havre), Brussels (Zeebrugge) and Rotterdam.
