Located within walking distance of most things Barcelona has to offer, TWO Hotel Barcelona by Axel could be the right place to stay if you are planning a trip to the city of Gaudi.
Two Hotel by Axel is literally footsteps away from a metrostation, Rocafort, with connections to Espanya, Universitat and Catalunya from where you can easily get all around the city.
Even before entering you will notice the ‘heterofriendly’ character of the hotel.
After checking in we headed towards our room which was located on the groundfloor. The layout of the bathroom revealed that room 011 is a handicapped room. Not that we mind staying in a handicapped room but the absence of a showercurtain or showerdoor made us consider changing rooms. As we were only staying one night we decided not to.
The room has a modern interior mixed with traditional elements, such as the tiles against the walls. In contrast to the more traditional design of the wall tiles, modern white and dark tiles are used on the floor. Other parts of the floor are covered with laminate flooring and carpet.
The room comes with some nice amenities: bathrobes, slippers, a safe and a minibar/fridge.
Looking towards the entrance of the room and …. surprise … inside the bathroom through the two-way mirror.
As in every hotel there is a ‘do not disturb’ sign and a ‘make up room’ sign. But Two Hotel Barcelona is not just any ordinary hotel, they have a third ‘please disturb’ sign. I wonder who would come knocking at the door…
Though the room looked very nice at first sight we could not help notice that there was room for improvement, unless the gaps between the carpet tiles are intentional.
The lobby bar and business center are a sight for sore eyes.
The sky bar and terrace on the roof are the ideal place to soak up some sun or have a drink while relaxing in the pool.
When we arrived at the hotel the curtain was closed and in the morning we found out why. Our room faced a public garden, which luckily was closed during the night. We did discover however that if you want some privacy you have to keep the curtains closed…
We only stayed one night in TWO Hotel Barcelona by Axel prior to our transatlantic cruise onboard Allure of the Seas. The ideal location, friendliness of the staff and overall positive vibe ensures that we will definitely come back …
