Explora Journeys’ first ship to be named in Civitavecchia, Italy

Explora I, the upcoming first ship for new luxury brand Explora Journeys, will be named in Civitavecchia, Italy.

Explora Journeys has announced its first luxury cruise ship, Explora I, will be officially named on 8 July in Civitavecchia near Rome, Italy.

The brand new luxury ship will then transfer to Southampton (UK) for her inaugural journey on 17 July for a 15-night sailing in Northern Europe to Copenhagen, Denmark.  

Earlier today, at the coin ceremony event for EXPLORA II at the Fincantieri shipyard in Sestri Ponente near Genoa (Italy), Michael Ungerer, Explora Journeys CEO said: “The announcement that EXPLORA I will be named in just a few months from now in Civitavecchia is further proof that we are on track to get this exciting new lifestyle brand up and running and the first of our luxurious vessels at sea.”

Explora I will feature 461 ocean-front suites, penthouses and residences each offering a spacious private terrace, floor-to-ceiling windows to maximise natural light, and a neutral colour palette and a suite layout designed to indulge in the marine environment. The ship will offer 11 culinary experiences across six vibrant restaurants plus in-suite dining, as well as 12 bars and lounges and a chef`s kitchen where guests can discover and enjoy diverse flavours from around the world.

Explora I is the first of up to six vessels scheduled to join the fleet of Explora Journeys.
