Inside Silver Origin, the first destination specific ship built by Silversea

When Silver Origin, Silversea’s first ever destination-specific ship, sets sail next summer she will be the most elegant vessel to ever sail the Galapagos Islands. The all-suite, 100-guest Silver Origin will embark on her maiden voyage in July 2020.

For more than five years, Silversea has taken guests closer to the authentic beauty of the Galapagos Islands with the best luxury cruise product in the archipelago, the cruise line’s Silver Galapagos. Next year Silversea plans to set the luxury bar even higher with the introduction of Silver Origin.

Perfectly crafted and with the utmost attention to the comfort of guests, the interior design of Silver Origin will whisper luxury, inspired by the understated Italian elegance that pervades Silversea’s fleet of intimate ships. Yet, it will also take influence from the Galapagos’ unique natural environment to strengthen guests’ engagement with the destination, with each space featuring bright, colourful motifs and regional materials.

PUBLIC SPACES

Basecamp, an elegant lounge in which guests can socialize before and after excursions, will be among Silver Origin’s most innovative spaces.

Connecting with the ship’s Zodiac embarkation area to represent the synergy between destination and ship, it will host educational activities, through which guests will be able to interact with the onboard Expedition Team to learn more about the rare wildlife, amazing landscapes and captivating history of the Galapagos Islands, before and after experiencing these attractions first-hand.

Basecamp will feature a large, interactive digital wall—through which guests will be able to access destination-related content, including pictures, videos, excursion previews and scientific presentations.

With floor-to-ceiling windows for sweeping views of the destination, Silver Origin’s Explorer Lounge will host daily briefings and lectures from the ship’s Expedition Team.

The elegant venue will feature a large video wall and wide HD screens in different seating areas to optimisé guests’ destination experience.

Thanks to Silversea’s all-inclusive approach – guests enjoy complimentary drinks including spirits, champagne and many varieties of wines – it will also be a sophisticated space to relax by the bar and the piano.

Located at the very front of the ship, the beautiful Observation Lounge will offer an elegant hideaway to guests, benefitting from incredible views on the destination.

The Observation Lounge will be the ideal place for guests to relax with a book from the library, which will feature the most extensive destination-focused collection the cruise line has ever had on one ship, carefully curated by Silversea’s destination experts.

LUXURY ACCOMMODATIONS

Thoughtfully crafted to provide superlative comfort, Silver Origin’s stylish, butler-serviced suites will be among the most spacious in the Galapagos. Each will feature a private veranda or a Horizon Balcony to provide stunning views of the island landscape. Luxury amenities will include a minibar stocked with local snacks and a range of soft and alcoholic drinks, in-suite fresh water purification system, large flat-screen television, choice of pillows, eco-friendly bath amenities, plush robes and slippers, 24-hour room service and in-suite dining, unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi, and complimentary expedition gear that includes a waterproof backpack, raincoat and premium metallic water bottle.

Silver Origin will be the only ship in the Galapagos Islands to offer butler service to all suites.

Silver Origin’s eight suite categories will include one Owner’s Suite that wraps around the ship’s rear section on Deck 6, offering an unrivalled 180° panoramic view.

Situated directly below, on Deck 5, will be the ship’s Grand Suite and Royal Suite. Both suites may be combined into one ideal suite for family and friends travelling together.

Rounding out the most spacious accommodation options will be two Silver Suites – located forward on Deck 5 – each of which can be connected to an adjacent Classic Veranda Suite to accommodate groups.

All of these top-tier suites feature a large veranda with comfortable outdoor furniture and floor-to-ceiling glass doors. A first for Silversea, the Owner’s, Grand, and Royal suites will offer an ocean-view whirlpool bath and separate shower, accessible from the veranda (except in the Grand Suite). The Silver Suites’ whirlpool bath and separate shower will provide exterior views and can be accessed from the veranda.

The remaining four suite categories will include one Medallion Suite, seven Deluxe Veranda Suites and 16 Superior Veranda Suites located on Deck 6. These accommodations will be most notable for their innovative Horizon Balcony, which converts into an indoor living space with a floor-to-ceiling window.

On Deck 5, there will also be 22 Classic Veranda Suites, each with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that open onto the veranda. Additionally, they will offer third-guest capacity as well as several connecting suites.

CULINARY IMMERSION

With culinary immersion offering a means to travel deeper into Ecuadorian culture, expert local chefs will take guests on a journey of culinary discovery in Silver Origin’s two dining venues: The Restaurant and The Grill – each of which will be able to accommodate all guests at full capacity. Authentic flavours, fresh, local ingredients and regional wines will complement international cuisine to inspire the palates of diners, showcasing the best of Ecuadorian culinary heritage in refined settings.

In The Restaurant, guests will enjoy an abundance of natural light and far-reaching views as they dine. In The Grill – a sophisticated open-air venue that can be partially enclosed for comfort – Silversea’s signature Hot Rocks concept will enhance guests’ dining experiences, with Ecuadorian twists enhancing the offering further still.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

With the environment in mind, Silver Origin will feature a dynamic positioning system, which will be used when the ship is positioned over the delicate seabed ecosystems to prevent the anchor from causing damage. Moreover, Silver Origin’s guests will be gifted a metallic reusable bottle that will leverage in-suite freshwater purifications system that convert seawater into drinking water, drastically reducing the use of plastic on board. The ship will also meet the highest standards of energy efficiency in the segment.
