Artfully inspired staterooms and suites onboard Holland America Line’s Nieuw Statendam

When Holland America Line’s new flagship Nieuw Statendam sets sail from the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy it will have more staterooms than sister-ship Koningsdam and all stateroom categories will be reimagined to showcase more thoughtful touches and innovative additions.

While Nieuw Statendam will still display all stateroom hallmarks introduced on Koningsdam – including single-cruiser accommodations as well as a wider range of suite configurations – Holland America Line’s new flagship will feature a redesigned Pinnacle Suite and reconfigured Family Staterooms.

Nieuw Statendam will have five more ocean-view and three more interior staterooms, bringing the total stateroom count to 1,339. In total the ship will offer 103 ocean-view and 280 interior staterooms. The ship will have 851 verandah or verandah spa accommodations, bringing the total staterooms that have a verandah, including suites, to 912.

The 32 family ocean-view staterooms will be reconfigured to feature more living space to spread out and relax. Accommodating up to five guests, these family staterooms will offer special amenities including two bathrooms and extra closet space. The 12 single ocean-view staterooms for solo cruisers will be located on the forward main deck.

Aboard Nieuw Statendam, suites will offer larger, more luxurious accommodations. A grand Pinnacle Suite measures an expansive 1,290 square feet with a bedroom, living room, dining area, dressing room and private verandah with whirlpool.

Nieuw Statendam’s Pinnacle Suite will be reconfigured to offer an open-concept design with the living room and dining area in one expansive space. Guests will be greeted by a spacious grand entrance, refreshed color scheme and luxe touches like custom furniture and a double-sided television.

Forty-three Neptune Suites and two Neptune Spa Suites (as well as the Pinnacle Suite) will have access to the exclusive Neptune Lounge, a private place to relax, socialize with other suite guests and enjoy the personalized service of a concierge.

Nieuw Statendam’s Neptune Lounge will be enlarged to allow for additional seating and more windows, giving a feeling of expanded openness. The lounge will provide worktables, a large screen television, a library, sofas and chairs and complimentary refreshments throughout the day.

The 14 Signature Suites and 104 Vista Suites will offer guests receive special amenities including oversized bath towels, fresh flowers, a pillow menu, mini bar and one-touch phone concierge service.

Guests looking to focus on health and wellness during the cruise can book a Spa Suite or Verandah Spa, Outside Spa or Inside Spa stateroom, conveniently located near the Greenhouse Spa & Salon. These rooms will come with yoga mats for use during the voyage and an iPod docking station.

With sophisticated décor and amenities the suites and staterooms aboard Nieuw Statendam will be welcoming sanctuaries featuring a host of modern details such as bedside USB ports, customized wood cabinets and luxurious frameless glass shower doors.

Additional amenities will include Holland America Line’s signature Mariner’s Dream bed with finely woven cotton linens, plush bathrobes for use during the voyage, a premium massage showerhead, flat-panel TV with video-on-demand, mini fridge, complimentary fresh fruit on request and fragrant soaps, lotions, shampoo and other bath amenities from Elemis Aromapure.

Nieuw Statendam is due for delivery Dec. 1, 2018 and will spend her inaugural season island-hopping throughout the Caribbean.
