Imagine starting an evening with dinner surrounded by changing landscapes and digital scenery, then moving to a spa where a calm pool gradually transforms into tropical rain and a simulated thunderstorm. That combination of experiences is among the new concepts coming to Norwegian Aura, the newest and largest ship from Norwegian Cruise Line, which will make its debut in Europe in May 2027.
The ship is the latest evolution of NCL’s Prima Plus Class and has been designed to give guests more choice in how they spend their time on board. Alongside new dining and wellness concepts, several of the cruise line’s established restaurants, bars and lounges will be redesigned or repositioned, while families will find a substantial collection of activities at Ocean Heights.
A New Era of Wellness at Sea

Wellness will take centre stage at the two-deck Mandara Spa, which has been designed around the restorative qualities of nature. Forest canopies, cave-like retreats, cascading waterfalls and other natural elements provide the inspiration for a space that is intended to feel more like a wellness sanctuary than a traditional cruise ship spa.
At the heart of the spa will be the Thermal Suite, which NCL describes as the most expansive of its kind in the cruise industry. It will offer 15 wellness experiences, including 11 new concepts, with the facilities built around contrast therapy. Guests will be able to move between warm and cool environments, water experiences and quieter relaxation areas, whether they want to unwind after a day ashore, recover from travelling or simply spend some time away from the activity elsewhere on the ship.
One of the standout features will be the Sensory Rain Pool, described by NCL as the first of its kind at sea. The immersive 360-degree experience begins with calm waters before developing into tropical rainfall and eventually a simulated thunderstorm, complete with lightning effects and the sound of rolling thunder. Rather than simply providing a place to swim or cool down, the experience is designed to surround guests with changing sights and sounds.

The Thermal Suite will also feature a Blue Glow Suite, where gentle blue lighting is intended to encourage relaxation and support post-travel recovery, as well as a dedicated Foot Spa for tired feet and muscles. At the Waterfall Experience, guests can relax beneath cascading water, while the Snow Cave will provide a cold environment with rugged, rock-like walls covered in fresh white snow.
A Reflection Pool with panoramic sea views will offer a quieter alternative, while guided Hot and Cold Plunge experiences will add another element to the contrast-therapy journey. Throughout the spa, guests will also find a Salt Room, Meditation Lounge, Aromatic Steam Room, Finnish Sauna, Charcoal Sauna and Zen Lounge.
The wider Mandara Spa will include 24 treatment rooms, a full-service salon and Skin Lab, alongside expanded medi-spa services such as IV therapy and NAD+ injections. Acupuncture will also be available, while a new fitness centre will include dedicated training studios and wellness programming.
Tamara Brings Indian Cuisine to Norwegian Aura
The dining programme aboard Norwegian Aura will encompass 22 food and beverage options across more than 10 different cuisines, giving guests plenty of opportunities to choose between casual meals, speciality dining and international flavours.

Among the most significant additions is Tamara, NCL’s first speciality restaurant dedicated to Indian cuisine. The concept follows the popularity of Indian dishes introduced at Indulge Food Hall with the launch of the Prima Class ships, where the cuisine quickly became a guest favourite. On Norwegian Aura, those flavours will move into a dedicated restaurant offering a more elevated dining experience.
Located on Deck 8, Tamara will draw inspiration from the architecture and craftsmanship of North Indian temples and courtyards. Warm earth tones, intricate detailing and an open-view kitchen will form the backdrop, with striking tandoor ovens providing a focal point for the restaurant.
The menu will include dishes such as Short-Rib Dosa, a crisp rice-and-lentil crepe served with tomato sambar, fenugreek and coconut chutney, alongside Lamb Biryani with basmati rice, warm spices and caramelised onions. A Green Papaya Salad will be prepared tableside with pomegranate, tamarind, peanuts, jaggery and chilli, adding a more interactive element to the meal.
Dining With a Changing Backdrop

Another new concept will give complimentary dining a distinctly different character. The Panorama Room, located on Deck 6, will use immersive technology to transform the environment around diners, combining expansive LED displays with multi-channel audio, synchronised lighting and dynamic visual effects.
The surroundings will evolve throughout the day and evening, taking guests through different landscapes, artworks and scenic environments while they eat. Rather than simply adding screens to a restaurant, NCL is positioning The Panorama Room as an immersive experience in which the setting becomes part of the meal.

Hudson’s, the signature main dining room known for its sweeping 270-degree ocean views, will also debut an elevated new design. Elsewhere, NCL is using the arrival of Norwegian Aura to rethink the layout of several established restaurants, with more seating and easier access between venues.
On Deck 7, Le Bistro will feature a new design with uninterrupted ocean views, while Sukhothai will receive a refreshed interior celebrating the culture, craftsmanship and flavours of Thailand. Palomar, which focuses on Mediterranean cuisine, and Italian restaurant Onda by Scarpetta will be located on Deck 8, where both will benefit from expanded seating and new aesthetics.

Cagney’s Steakhouse will receive a more sophisticated redesign, combining rich, dark colours with the atmosphere expected of a modern steakhouse. Japanese speciality restaurants Hasuki and Nama will also return, with lighter colour palettes intended to create a more welcoming feel.

Indulge Food Hall Expands Its Global Flavours
NCL’s popular Indulge Food Hall will return with nine globally inspired stations, while Surfside Café will be expanded across both sides of the vessel to create a more seamless guest experience.

The food hall will build on the popularity of NCL’s existing culinary concepts, offering complimentary Mexican favourites inspired by Los Lobos alongside a new Middle Eastern concept. Returning options will include Q Texas Smokehouse, Planterie and Nudls, giving guests the opportunity to move between different cuisines without the formality of speciality dining.
The Local Bar & Grill will also return as another complimentary option, serving classic pub fare for much of the day. For guests staying in The Haven, NCL’s keycard-access luxury complex, both The Haven Bar & Lounge and The Haven Restaurant will receive new designs.

Studio DADO, a long-standing design partner of Norwegian Cruise Line, has created the private Haven spaces around the idea of a tranquil natural oasis. Earth tones, a lush canopy of trees and delicate finishes are intended to bring a sense of the outdoors into the exclusive complex.
More Space to Relax and Socialise

The changes aboard Norwegian Aura extend well beyond the restaurants and spa, with a number of bars and lounges being redesigned to create more open and inviting places to gather. Penrose Bar & Atrium will have more than double the seating of the existing concept and will feature a dedicated stage for daily entertainment, giving the space a stronger role in the social life of the ship.
Metropolitan Bar will return with its award-winning sustainable cocktail menu, while Swirl Wine Bar will offer a more intimate contemporary wine-lounge setting. Belvedere Bar and Whiskey Bar will also be refreshed, while Daybreak Bar on Deck 18 will overlook the pool and feature vibrant colours designed to keep it connected to the activity around it.

The intention throughout the ship is to make it easier for guests to move naturally from one experience to another, whether they are meeting friends for a drink, looking for entertainment or simply finding a comfortable place to spend some time.
“Norwegian Aura is all about giving guests more of what they love, with spaces and experiences that make vacation feel even easier,” said Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “From Tamara, our new Indian specialty restaurant, which expands the already guest-favorite eatery in Indulge to an elevated culinary offering; to The Panorama Room’s immersive dining experience and our most expansive Thermal Suite to date, every addition has been purposefully designed to give guests more freedom, choice and opportunities to relax, recharge and enjoy their vacation their way, without compromise.”
Family Adventure at Ocean Heights
Families will have their own substantial activity area at Ocean Heights, where NCL is combining new attractions with reimagined favourites. The zone is designed to change from day to night through immersive lighting and LED projections, giving the area a different atmosphere as the ship moves into the evening.
For guests looking for more action, there will be six slides, an 82-foot Aura Ropes Course, a multi-level obstacle course and Moon Climber. Aura Midway will add carnival-style games and a nine-hole mini golf course, creating a mix of activities suitable for different ages.
There will also be quieter options for those who want to step away from the action. Norwegian Aura will introduce NCL’s first overhanging cabanas overlooking Vibe Beach Club, complete with a dedicated bar, giving guests another place to relax while remaining close to the pool and wider activity zone.
Norwegian Aura Heads to Europe in 2027

Norwegian Aura will begin its first season in Europe on 21 May 2027 with a seven-day Mediterranean cruise from Trieste, Italy, to Barcelona, Spain. The European debut will be followed by a 13-day transatlantic voyage to Miami, after which the ship will begin its Caribbean programme.
During summer 2027 and summer 2028, Norwegian Aura will operate seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises calling at destinations including Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. The itineraries will also include Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas, NCL’s private island destination.
For winter 2027/28, the ship will offer week-long Western Caribbean cruises, with itineraries including Roatán in Honduras, Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, and Harvest Caye, NCL’s resort-style private destination off the coast of Belize.
