German cruise travellers will have a new way to reach Costa Cruises’ ships in Liguria next summer, with a direct flight between Frankfurt and Genoa launching in March 2027.
Discover Airlines, the leisure airline of the Lufthansa Group, will operate the new route from 28 March 2027 using 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. Flights will operate twice a week, on Saturdays and Sundays, throughout the 2027 summer season.
The connection is particularly relevant for passengers travelling from Germany to join cruises departing from the Italian ports of Genoa and Savona. Costa Cruises will offer Fly & Cruise packages combining the new air service with selected sailings.
Direct Access to Costa Cruises’ Ligurian Ports
The new Frankfurt–Genoa route is the result of cooperation between Discover Airlines, Genoa Airport and Costa Cruises. It is intended to strengthen air connectivity between Germany and Liguria while making it easier for international cruise passengers to reach their ships.
For Costa Cruises, the new connection forms part of a broader effort to combine air travel and cruising into a more integrated holiday experience.

The route will support sailings on Costa Fascinosa from Genoa and Costa Toscana from Savona, giving German guests a direct connection to the region rather than requiring a flight via another European hub.
The new service is also expected to contribute to tourism in Genoa and Liguria by increasing international visitor numbers and providing a direct link with one of Europe’s major aviation hubs.
