The construction of TUI Luzia, the first river cruise ship designed specifically for TUI River Cruises, has reached an important milestone with the vessel’s successful launch at Kladovo Shipyard in Serbia. From here, the ship will continue its journey to the Netherlands for the final stages of construction.
Outfitting will take place in Werkendam, where TUI Luzia will be prepared for delivery in June 2027. The Dutch town is also home to Concordia Damen, which is currently building two river cruise ships for TUI River Cruises. Both are scheduled to enter service on European rivers from 2028.
At 85 metres long, TUI Luzia will accommodate up to 111 guests in 56 staterooms. The four-deck vessel will feature a sun deck with a swimming pool, along with restaurants, lounges and a variety of outdoor spaces.
The design is intended to make the most of the destination, with outdoor areas providing views of the Douro Valley as the ship follows the Portuguese river. Once the outfitting in Werkendam is complete, TUI Luzia will begin its inaugural season on the Douro in summer 2027, marking the next stage in TUI River Cruises’ development of a vessel created specifically for its own operation.
