Following the reveal of its 2028 Grand Voyages earlier this month, Holland America Line has shared additional details about the extended itineraries aboard Volendam and Zaandam, with a stronger focus on scenic cruising, immersive overland experiences and slower-paced regional exploration.
The 129-day Grand World Voyage aboard Volendam includes a four-day Antarctic Experience alongside scenic passages through the Beagle Channel, Glacier Alley and the Chilean Fjords. The itinerary also features extended time in New Zealand, calls throughout the South Pacific and a sail-past of Null Island, where the Prime Meridian and Equator intersect at 0°N, 0°E.
Meanwhile, the 90-day Grand Australia & New Zealand Voyage aboard Zaandam focuses more deeply on the South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand, combining overnight stays with longer calls across the region. The voyage includes overnight stays in Sydney, Cairns, Auckland and Papeete, alongside an extended call in Bora Bora.

For the first time, both of Holland America Line’s Grand Voyages will visit Bora Bora during the same season. Arrivals through the Teavanui Pass bring guests directly into the island’s lagoon, framed by Mount Otemanu and the surrounding white-sand motus.
The cruise line also revealed additional overland experiences connected to the voyages. Guests sailing aboard Volendam can join a multi-day South African safari extension near Kruger National Park, while guests aboard Zaandam can explore Western Australia’s Margaret River region through vineyard visits, coastal excursions and cave experiences.

According to Holland America Line, the 2028 itineraries were designed around longer stays and more time within each region rather than increasing the number of ports.
“When we plan a Grand Voyage, we are looking closely at how each part of the itinerary connects and how much time guests will have in each region,” said Paul Grigsby, vice president of deployment and revenue planning for Holland America Line.

Both Grand Voyages also feature onboard programming designed for long-duration travel, including destination-focused enrichment, regional dining experiences and guest speakers throughout the journey. Gala evenings, dressy nights and the Captain’s Grand Voyage Dinner form part of the extended onboard experience aboard Volendam and Zaandam.
