EXPLORA II embraces a more authentic and slower way to discover the Mediterranean in winter 2026–2027. The ‘A Serene Mediterranean’ collection runs from November 2026 to March 2027, focusing on cultural depth, smaller destinations and travel outside the busy summer season.
According to Explora Journeys, the region takes on a different character in the winter months, with softer light, fewer crowds and more space for local encounters and a more relaxed pace of travel.
President’s Journey with Anna Nash
One of the highlights of the programme is the so-called President’s Journey, where Anna Nash, President of Explora Journeys, will sail on board EXPLORA II from 9 to 15 December 2026.
During this sailing, ‘A Journey Of Atlantic Light & Volcanic Shores’, the ship travels from Barcelona to Lisbon. Guests will have the opportunity to take part in conversations, encounters and curated experiences offering deeper insight into Explora Journeys’ vision of modern luxury ocean travel.
The journey is designed to foster personal connections, deeper engagement and a more intimate onboard experience.
Shorter Itineraries with Greater Flexibility

In addition to longer cruises, Explora Journeys is introducing shorter itineraries of four to nine nights. These offer a more flexible way to explore the Mediterranean without compromising comfort or experience.
Destinations include the volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote, the cliffside villages of Oia and Fira in Santorini, and cultural highlights in Sicily and Tunisia. Overnight stays in Casablanca, Málaga and Madeira are also part of the programme.
A particular focus is placed on quieter destinations such as Patmos, La Gomera and Siracusa, where the emphasis is on authentic encounters and a slower rhythm of travel.
Culture, Gastronomy and Local Stories
Explora Journeys is also expanding its destination experiences, with a stronger focus on culture, gastronomy and heritage.
In Málaga, Pablo Picasso’s legacy is explored through his birthplace and an exclusive experience at the Picasso Museum. In Lisbon, guests discover the tradition of azulejos through historic sites and hands-on ceramic workshops. In Reus, attention is given to the early influences of architect Antoni Gaudí.
Gastronomy also plays a central role. In Palermo, guests are welcomed into a historic palazzo to explore Sicilian culinary traditions. In Tangier, the sensory world of the souks introduces Moroccan cuisine through traditional tagine preparation.
Further experiences include visits to Pompeii and wine tastings in Tuscany, where landscape, history and gastronomy come together.
With ‘A Serene Mediterranean’, Explora Journeys offers a more contemplative form of cruising, where off-season travel allows for greater calm, deeper connections and a different perspective on the Mediterranean.
