EXPLORA III will focus on distinctive itineraries across Northern Europe, Iceland, Greenland, Canada and New England during summer 2026. The new Explora Journeys ship sets sail on her maiden voyages from 3 August, combining longer stays, overnight calls and a slower pace of travel with impressive natural scenery and culturally rich destinations.
Departing from Barcelona via Lisbon, EXPLORA III will head towards Northern Europe and Iceland before crossing the Atlantic via Greenland to North America. Throughout the season, the ship follows a northern route through spectacular landscapes and culturally significant destinations, with no itinerary repeated.
The voyages take guests through the Norwegian fjords, Baltic capitals and remote regions of Iceland and Greenland. New ports for Explora Journeys include Bergen, Flåm, Riga and Tallinn. Longer stays and overnight calls in cities such as Stockholm, Reykjavik and Quebec City are designed to offer greater depth and a more relaxed style of travel.
From the basalt formations of Giant’s Causeway to the white beaches of Prince Edward Island, guests will experience a varied landscape shaped by nature, coastlines and cultural heritage. The transatlantic crossing itself also becomes part of the experience, with an emphasis on relaxation and life at sea.
According to Anna Nash, President of Explora Journeys, the season combines exceptional natural experiences, deeper exploration and memorable moments on board.
Stronger focus on local experiences

Explora Journeys is placing strong emphasis on excursions and experiences that connect guests more closely with each destination.
In Norway, travellers can discover Mandal by silent electric boat, visit family-run orchards overlooking the Fisterfjord or enjoy panoramic views of the Briksdal Glacier from the Loen Skylift. Later in the season, the focus shifts to Canada’s rugged coastline, with activities including kayaking, hiking along the Cabot Trail and visits to the Magdalen Islands and the Mingan Archipelago.
Further south, the itineraries continue along North America’s Atlantic coast, combining New England and New York with a final arrival in Miami.
Solar eclipse voyage among the highlights
One of the season’s standout voyages departs on 12 August, giving guests the opportunity to witness a rare total solar eclipse at sea — a phenomenon not visible from Europe for 27 years.
Science communicator and adventurer Huw James will sail from 10 August to prepare guests for the eclipse experience. Helen Sharman, the first British astronaut, will also join the voyage to speak about space travel and her experiences in space.
In addition, EXPLORA III will welcome Lewis Pugh, UN Patron of the Oceans and renowned endurance swimmer. Sailing from Bergen to Copenhagen between 22 and 25 August, he will speak on board about ocean conservation and climate awareness.
First LNG-powered ship in the fleet
Sustainability also plays an important role. EXPLORA III becomes the first LNG-powered vessel in the Explora Journeys fleet and features technologies designed to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
The ship will also introduce several new onboard concepts, including The Cellar by Explora Journeys with an extensive wine collection, and The Chef’s Table, where guests can create personalised menus together with the chefs.
The Rolex boutique-at-sea also returns, complemented by luxury brands including Cartier, Piaget and, for the first time, Chopard.
