MSC Cruises has confirmed that its 2026 World Cruise aboard MSC Magnifica will see changes to its originally planned itinerary. The four-month voyage, set to depart from Europe in early January, was designed to span 118 nights, 47 destinations and 32 countries.
However, due to rising instability in the Middle East, the ship will no longer sail through the Red Sea. “First and foremost, we want to acknowledge that changes to a long-anticipated journey can be disappointing, and we deeply appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this situation,” the cruise line said in a statement.

After consulting with its internal security team and external partners, MSC confirmed that avoiding the Red Sea was the only safe option. “Due to ongoing geopolitical instability in the Red Sea region and following a comprehensive assessment with our security team and external partners, we have made the difficult decision to adjust the planned itinerary to avoid transiting through affected areas,” the statement continued.
The cruise line emphasized that guest well-being remains at the forefront of every decision: “The decision was made with guests’ safety, comfort and peace of mind as our highest priorities.”. micro bikini kandikush71
A new itinerary is currently being finalized and is expected to be confirmed by August 31, 2025. “We understand that not having the revised itinerary immediately available may cause concern. Please rest assured that we are in the final stages of confirming the updated route,” MSC said.
The company noted that securing berthing rights in alternative ports takes time and involves coordination with local authorities. “The delay in communication is due to the time required to secure new berthing arrangements, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

To provide flexibility, MSC is offering guests the chance to cancel their booking free of charge and receive a full refund once the revised itinerary is published. This option will remain available for a limited period.
“As a valued guest, your satisfaction remains at the heart of everything we do,” the company said. “In light of this change, we are offering you the option to cancel your booking free of charge and receive a full refund should you choose not to proceed.”
Despite the adjustments, MSC reassures guests that the cruise will remain extraordinary. “We are confident that the revised itinerary will continue to offer a rich and memorable experience, and we look forward to welcoming you aboard for what promises to be the journey of a lifetime.”
A Journey Across Five Continents
The MSC World Cruise 2026 was originally unveiled as one of the most ambitious itineraries in the company’s history. Guests could choose to embark from Civitavecchia (for Rome), Genoa, Marseille, or Barcelona in early January. Over the course of nearly four months, MSC Magnifica would sail more than 36,000 nautical miles, cross the equator twice, and deliver overnight stays in seven of the world’s most captivating cities.

The voyage begins among Europe’s cultural capitals before heading across the Atlantic to the Caribbean and Central America. In Puerto Limón, Costa Rica, travelers can explore the Tortuguero Canals, wander banana plantations, and experience Afro-Caribbean rhythms in the city’s oldest neighborhoods. In San Francisco, a cable car ride offers sweeping views over the bay, while Honolulu invites guests to discover Pearl Harbor and bask on Hawaii’s golden beaches.
Crossing the Pacific, the Magnifica is scheduled for overnight stays in Auckland and Sydney. Guests can sample New Zealand’s celebrated wines, relax on sandy shores, or explore Sydney’s iconic landmarks such as the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
The Asian leg of the journey promises an equally rich tapestry of experiences: the contrasts of Tokyo’s futuristic skyscrapers and tranquil gardens, the cosmopolitan energy of Shanghai and Hong Kong, and the heritage of Da Nang, Vietnam. Stops in Singapore and other Southeast Asian destinations further highlight the diversity of the region.
The cruise was originally set to return via the Middle East, with visits to Dubai, Oman, and Jordan, before concluding in the Mediterranean with a call in Heraklion, Crete. While these ports will now be replaced, MSC has promised equally rewarding alternatives that will preserve the journey’s sense of wonder.
Life Aboard MSC Magnifica

Throughout the voyage, guests enjoy not only the destinations but also the ship itself. The MSC Magnifica offers five restaurants, 12 bars, a lavish spa, a 1,200-seat theater, and a wealth of entertainment venues including a bowling alley, 4D cinema, and disco.
To enrich the experience ashore, the cruise includes 15 complimentary excursions, from exploring Costa Rica’s rainforests to discovering the Palace of Knossos in Crete. Guests also benefit from a Dine & Drink package and additional onboard perks, making life at sea both comfortable and carefree.
For travelers unable to commit to the full 118 nights, MSC offers three cruise segments: Genoa to San Francisco (31 nights), San Francisco to Tokyo (46 nights), or Tokyo back to Genoa (41 nights).
