The planned transformation of Oosterdam will take place five weeks earlier than originally scheduled. Holland America Line has adjusted the timetable in response to strong demand for cruises aboard the ship following the announcement of its Evolution transformation. Oosterdam will therefore enter dry dock earlier and return to service on October 31, 2027, followed by a new series of cruises across the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Caribbean.
The refurbishment will take place in Marseille, France. The revised schedule allows Holland America Line to add five additional voyages aboard the transformed Oosterdam. At the same time, several previously announced cruises between September 11 and December 9, 2027, have been cancelled. Guests booked on those departures, together with their travel advisors, are being contacted directly about their rebooking options.
Five New Cruises Aboard the Transformed Oosterdam

The first cruise following the Evolution transformation will depart Civitavecchia, the port of Rome, on October 31, 2027, bound for Trieste. During the 10-day itinerary, Oosterdam will visit destinations in Italy, Greece, Montenegro and Croatia, giving guests the opportunity to be among the first to experience the transformed ship.
An 11-day Mediterranean voyage from Trieste to Piraeus, the port of Athens, follows on November 10. On November 21, Oosterdam will depart Piraeus for a seven-day Mediterranean cruise to Barcelona. The ship will then cross the Atlantic on a 13-day voyage from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale, departing November 28, before beginning an 11-day roundtrip Caribbean itinerary from Fort Lauderdale on December 11. Oosterdam will spend the winter 2027/2028 season in the Caribbean, offering a mix of nine‑ and 12‑day itineraries highlighting the southern Caribbean and the ABC Islands, as well as one 11-day itinerary that allows guests to celebrate the winter holidays on board. New Stateroom and Suite Categories

The interest in the new sailings is closely linked to the changes being introduced as part of Holland America Evolution. The cruise line plans to refresh a number of areas aboard Oosterdam while retaining the service and atmosphere that guests associate with Holland America Line.
New stateroom and suite categories will be introduced, while several public spaces will also be redesigned. The Grand Dutch Café will be among the additions, while the Ocean Bar will receive a completely refreshed look. The aim is to introduce new experiences while maintaining the premium character and welcoming atmosphere of the cruise line.

Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, says the response to Holland America Evolution has been unprecedented. Moving the dry dock forward by five weeks allows the cruise line to create five additional cruises aboard the newly transformed Oosterdam, giving guests more opportunities to experience the changes from the beginning.
Guests who had originally booked the scheduled inaugural cruise or the first Transatlantic Crossing in December 2027 will also have the opportunity to move to the corresponding new voyages. They can therefore still be among the first passengers to sail aboard Oosterdam following her refurbishment.
The five additional cruises will go on sale in early October 2026. The earlier refurbishment will not only bring Oosterdam back into service sooner, but will also give travellers more opportunities to experience the ship in her new form from the very beginning.
