Royal Caribbean has reached a major construction milestone for its seventh Oasis Class cruise ship with a keel-laying ceremony at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.
The event officially marks the start of assembly for the new Royal Caribbean ship and begins the next two years of construction ahead of its expected debut in 2028.
During the ceremony, representatives from Royal Caribbean and Chantiers de l’Atlantique placed newly minted coins beneath the first steel block in the dry dock, known as the keel. This long-standing maritime tradition symbolizes good fortune and safe travels for the ship, its future crew and the millions of guests expected to sail aboard in the years ahead.
The yet-to-be-named vessel will become the seventh ship in Royal Caribbean’s groundbreaking Oasis Class fleet when it enters service in 2028. The Oasis Class is known for introducing some of the world’s largest and most innovative cruise ships, combining exciting attractions, diverse dining venues, world-class entertainment and family-friendly experiences.
Royal Caribbean says the new ship will continue that tradition with fresh features and unforgettable vacations for travelers of all ages.
