Azamara Cruises is taking the guest experience aboard Azamara Onward to a new level with the launch of the ambitious ‘Azamara Forward’ program. In November 2027, the ship will undergo a two-week transformation in dry dock, involving a significant investment in culinary innovation, renewed entertainment, and modern interior design.
The renovation is part of a fleet-wide investment of $80 million to transform the ships into contemporary sanctuaries. For Azamara Onward, this represents a major upgrade that further refines the balance between modern luxury and the cruise line’s signature small-ship character. The company is focusing on increased personalization, elevated comfort, and an even stronger connection to the visited destinations.
Culinary Innovation and Reimagined Hotspots
A central part of the renovation is the addition of a completely new, panoramic Chef’s Table restaurant on Deck 10. This intimate venue replaces the traditional Drawing Room and provides a space for exclusive themed dinners and the prestigious Acamar Experience (the successor to the ‘Best of the Best’ dinner) for guests in the highest suite categories.
Additionally, the popular Atlas Bar will be given a central location next to the fully redesigned Discoveries Restaurant. The restaurant will feature an entirely new decor, while the Atlas Bar transforms into a central gathering point that remains open late into the evening for craft cocktails and an extensive beverage menu.
Large-Scale Onboard Updates
The Azamara Forward makeover extends to every corner of the ship. All staterooms and suites will be refreshed with new furniture, soft bedding, and a color palette inspired by the sea and sky. Modern conveniences, such as bedside USB charging ports, will be added. The Cabaret Lounge will undergo a total metamorphosis with a new dance floor, modern furniture, and advanced stage technology. Within The Sanctum Spa, treatment rooms will be modernized, including a new suite for couples’ massages. Furthermore, all public restrooms on board will receive a complete upgrade.
While the ship is being modernized technically and aesthetically, the new Penthouse Deck is reserved exclusively for sister ship Azamara Quest; the Onward will retain its current intimate deck layout and open-air experience on the upper deck.
Schedule and Inaugural Sailing
According to CEO Dondra Ritzenthaler, this investment represents the company’s vision to provide even more depth to the destination experience. The renewed Azamara Onward will return to service on November 25, 2027, with a seven-night Italy Intensive cruise from Athens to Rome. Following her debut in the Mediterranean, the ship will cross the Atlantic for the Caribbean winter season.
