The rebirth of the Crystal Symphony is a love letter to the golden age of travel, written in Italian marble, raw silk, and shimmering light. Under the visionary direction of the A&K Travel Group, the ship has undergone a profound transformation, culminating in a refined refurbishment in late 2025. While the entire vessel has been polished to a brilliant shine, the true magic unfolds the moment you step into its redesigned soul.
The heart of Crystal Symphony has been completely reimagined, and every corner of the Atrium now welcomes guests with an embrace that feels both grand and incredibly intimate. In the past, ship atriums were often mere transit points; today, this space has been transformed by Milan-based Studio Ibsen into a sophisticated architectural marvel. The designers removed the dated water feature to provide a fluid layout that prioritizes air, light, and intimacy.

This new philosophy is immediately visible in the reception area, which now features an elevated space with a marble-topped desk and a glowing backlit panel that feels more like a private club than a cruise ship foyer.
The undeniable centerpiece of this transformation is a breathtaking two-story mosaic by De Castelli. This masterpiece of Italian craftsmanship serves as a textured, shimmering backdrop for the relocated grand piano. Above, a tiered chandelier casts a warm glow, while light floods through the skylight to catch the new, hand-selected wallpaper on the surrounding columns.

Nestled at the base of the mosaic is the Crystal Cove, a lounge redefined with high-end furniture that invites you to linger. It is the perfect place to sip your favorite cocktail and let your eyes follow the intricate patterns of the De Castelli installation. The bar itself has been completely refreshed with a new front counter and an elegant backbar niche. Whether you are sinking into a plush armchair for a pre-dinner aperitif or enjoying the soft notes of the piano, every detail – from the updated ceiling slats to the brass finishes – feels intentional and deeply luxurious.

Beyond the Atrium, the refurbishment followed a “less is more” philosophy. By reducing the passenger count to just 606, Crystal created a sense of exclusivity rarely found at sea. The 2025 project saw the complete redesign of the Aquamarine and Sapphire Classic suites on Deck 10. While keeping their signature spacious bathrooms with separate tubs, they were outfitted with contemporary furnishings and carpets that align with the ship’s sleek, Mediterranean aesthetic. This elegance extends to the transitional spaces, where stair lobbies now feature refined brass details and enhanced architectural lighting.

While the aesthetic updates are striking, much of the work happened “under the hood” to ensure long-term performance. The ship underwent a technical overhaul, including the installation of new fuel purifiers designed to accommodate biodiesel. Hundreds of meters of fresh-water piping were replaced, and the fin stabilizers were serviced to ensure a ride as smooth as the silk linens in the suites.
The “new” Crystal Symphony doesn’t try to be the biggest ship on the ocean; it aims to be the most exceptional. From the intricate detail of the two-story mosaic to the perfect pour of a martini in the Cove, it is a vessel designed for those who know that the journey is just as important as the destination.
